We are receiving some great feedback for the ‘Overlays’ workshop by the textile artist Michael Brennand-Wood which took place here on Sunday 18th August.

After an introduction by Michael the twelve participants started the day with a wooden frame and an assortment of found objects, collage material and fabrics and by the end of the afternoon there was an amazingly diverse and creative range of ideas and solutions.

‘I have been a fan of Michael’s work for a number of years and this is the reason why I booked onto the workshop. It was really great receiving the benefit of his experience and ideas and came away full of inspiration, he was such a great teacher, it was hard not to! I haven’t done a workshop at the Bluecoat before so had no idea what to expect but it definitely exceeded my expectations, so much so that I have now booked onto the Cathy Miles workshop.’

‘For me personally I really value workshops like this as working from home can be a bit isolating and being able to work with other artists on a professional level is so enriching to my practice. I thought Michael’s presentation and continued turorial stlye thoughout the day was perfect and I was so pleased to get such positive feed back on my studies.
Michael’s experience and expertise is awesome and I was impressed at his sharing of thoughts and processes.
I gained a lot from the session just in listening to his conversation and dialogue.’

‘I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop with Michael – he was incredibly generous with his input. He gave individual feedback and took a great interest in each of us and was very encouraging, not easy in a fairly large group.
As I am just starting out on my artistic journey I found this a really comfortable and supportive environment to be in.’

‘A really great workshop, thoroughly enjoyable, inspiring and great value! Thanks!’
