Charlie MacPherson

Profile:

Charlie MacPherson creates beautiful glass forms inspired by the simplicity, harmony and balance of Japanese architectural aesthetics. He conveys this through exploring the qualities of glass, using components to change the pieces as the spectator moves around the work. Charlie manipulates the hand blown forms whilst in a molten state, then finishes and refines each piece by undergoing many stages of polishing and sand blasting, achieving a contrast of surface textures. Since gaining BA (Hons) in 3D Design Glass and Ceramics at the University of Sunderland, Charlie has received a variety of awards, commissions and exhibitions for his cross-section of work, which ranges from garden sculpture to one-off interior pieces.
