Gallery Staff

Dr. Maureen Bampton – Director  (full time)

Maureen has over 25 years experience working in the contemporary crafts and applied arts at Bluecoat Display Centre. She is a founder member of CraftNet, and is currently visiting External Examiner at Manchester Metropolitan University Department of 3 dimensional design.  She loves being part of a dynamic contemporary craft sector that places high values on  qualities such as individuality, uniqueness and authenticity, and she especially enjoys the curating  of exhibitions.

Samantha Rhodes - Assistant Director  (full time)

Samantha has over 20 years experience working in the contemporary crafts and applied arts at Bluecoat Display Centre. Samantha enjoys the changing exhibition programme, and all that involves, especially the hands-on aspect of the work.

Jeanne Marie Kenny - Gallery Coordinator (4 days a week)

Jeanne Marie Kenny has been connected with the Bluecoat Display Centre for over 15 years, having left during the middle of this period to return to the USA to complete her Masters in Fine Art. She also works as a practising artist from her studio in the main building at the Bluecoat. (To see her works click here.)

Responsibilities include:-

Frances Gill - Gallery Assistant 

Frances joined the Display Centre in 2010 and has helped the centre develop its education program with the team, as well as maintaining the gallery. Frances has a degree in Fine Art and is a practicing photographer, focussing upon portraiture in particular as well as documenting different elements of the natural world.

Louise Kirby - Accounts

Louise has been a member of the team at Bluecoat Display Centre for the past 10 years.

Freelancers, Volunteers & Student Placements

Regular work experience is offered to students and job seekers as volunteers and also to paid freelance workers to supplement and assist with new developments and at key times of the year such as holiday cover & Christmas trading etc. 

We positively aim to promote diversity, and welcome involvement from all sections of the community.
