David Mellor Design
David Mellor Design / Wednesday 1st April 2020 - Thursday 30th April 2020
Coronavirus/Covid-19 has caused the postponement of this exhibition
We are delighted to present this In the Window focus on David Mellor Design for the month of April.
David Mellor Design operates on the simple principle that well-designed equipment can improve your life.
The company was set up by David Mellor, Royal Designer for Industry. Mellor was a key figure in British design with an international reputation as designer, manufacturer and shopkeeper. Born in Sheffield and originally trained as a silversmith, he always specialised in metalwork and is particularly famous for his cutlery which won numerous design awards and which is in many international collections.
David Mellor retired in 2005 and passed away in 2009. His son Corin Mellor, an interior and product designer, succeeded his father as Creative Director of David Mellor Design and is responsible for product development within the company.
The David Mellor shops in London, and the Country Shop alongside the factory and David Mellor Design Museum at Hathersage in Derbyshire, sell a professional collection of sophisticated modern tableware and kitchenware, expertly selected for those who love to cook and eat.
Our collection is constantly evolving and includes many items of our own design, designed in our design office and exclusive to the David Mellor shops, as well as the finest examples of British crafts and the best of international design.
