Jo Taylor / Tuesday 1st August 2017 - Thursday 31st August 2017
Jo Taylor’s elegant ceramic forms offer suggestions of organic growth, fragmentation, fragility, rigidity and fluidity. Inspired by decorative ornament seen in plaster ceilings, carved stone or wrought iron, the works incorporate similar notions of depth, shadow and grandiose flourish.
Technically challenging the structures are a product of process and assembly, combining the use of the potters wheel with innovative hand building techniques. The resulting works retain a sense of speed and rhythm from the marks made: directional, repetitive, sequential, connected.
Jo graduated with distinction from the MA Ceramics course at Bath Spa University in July 2012; based in Wiltshire her time is split between studio practice & teaching.
